Creating Successful And Sustainable Changes

Solar energy is not the future. It is the present. All over the United States and all over the world, people are either taking the initiative themselves and installing solar power systems for their homes or businesses, or they are pushing their governments at all levels to fund solar projects through tax incentives. Yes indeed, it is an exciting time to be in the sustainable energy business.

The largest hydropower plant in the world is located in Washington along the Grand Coulee Dam. It took 11 years to build it from 1933 to 1942. Since that time it has undergone numerous facelifts and changes. It is amazing at a size of over 5,000 feet long and 550 feet high.

To some degree, those of us toiling away to make clean energy a viable and stable industry share a lot of similarities with Fred Dobbs, Bogart’s character in the 1948 film. Dobbs meets up with the grizzled prospector Howard, played by Huston, down in Tampico, Mexico about 1925.

The research and developments are already being done and are on the way. The aim is to get a real solution for this proven technology. The hydropower and its complete success will mean the remarkable step have been taken towards protecting the environment.

Active solar heating systems use the warmth of the sun to collect heat in liquid or air reservoirs then a pump is used to distribute the air from the collector to the inside of the building. This type of solar heating system is most often used in homes because it can be used also to heat all of the hot water needed.

Try drying your laundry outside in the sun whenever possible, rather than using a dryer. The smell of clothes dried in the fresh air cannot be topped. They will feel and smell fresher than machine-dried clothes. You will also save money on utility bills by doing this.

It can take years to build the dams for a hydroelectric plant to start operating though. Many people who live in the vicinity of a proposed hydroelectric plant are not happy about it either. They worry about flooding and they often find their homeowner’s insurance goes up due to that possibility.
