Unless you’re in a very specialized niche like neon sewing needles, you’ll probably find that your desired keywords require a very high bid. You’re still unsure right now about making Adwords work for you, so you may not want to invest that much in the campaign. That’s just fine. Focus on longer, phrase-driven keywords instead. If you are selling TVs, don’t try to outbid others for the keyword “TV”. Focus on long-tail keywords like “HDTV in Cleveland”. You’ll see the prices drop significantly, but you’ll also get traffic that has already been vetted. In other words, you won’t be paying to attract people who want to watch TV online or see what’s on ABC tonight.

I have to say I am an advocate of formal training, but please if you are considering going down this route, do your research! Go onto job websites and search in the web industry for what employers are looking for in terms of educational backgrounds and skills… then find a course that provides that, if that is your area of interest. There are lots of courses that are great and content-heavy, but the skills are simply redundant nowadays. The web is a big area, and with job specs changing so fast, getting the RIGHT skills is essential.
According to comScore, a global leader in measuring the digital world and the preferred source of digital marketing intelligence, 69.5 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones during the three months ending in February 2011, up 13% from the preceding three-month period. Google Android grew 7.0 percentage points since November, strengthening its #1 position with 33.0% market share. RIM ranked second with 28.9% market share, followed by Apple with 25.2%. Microsoft (7.7%) and Palm (2.8%) rounded out the top five.
