Are you braced? If you are one of the “smart” ones and have started to purchase bulk foods, grains, cereals, etc. and have started a home food storage program, make sure you implement the following tips to ensure your food stays dry, fresh, and insect/ pest free.
Because people are often ignorant of what plumbing involves, they’re happy to pay whatever price a plumber asks of them. All homeowners should work to become educated about plumbing so they have an idea what contractors do when they come. By learning a little bit about the topic, you can rest assured that you won’t be robbed blind by a plumber.
A flashlight is an essential item in any survival kit. Currently I have two flashlights: I carry a Surefire 6P LED light that is probably one of the most durable flashlights available. It provides a super bright 80 lumens and will run for 11 hours on one set of batteries. As a back up, I also have a Duracell crank led flashlight with radio. because it’s a crank flashlight, I never have to worry about batteries going dead. Plus, the Duracell light also can charge my cellphone. I also keep a few glow sticks and a colapsible candle in its holder in my pack as well.
A major concern when mountain biking over rough terrain is the braking system so you must make sure your bike has a good set of brakes. You will need to brake often and sharply so, for your safety, you need to check the brakes every time you set out on a ride.
A whistle is an essential item. Your voice will give out from yelling long before you can stop blowing on a whistle. Plus a quality whistle will be extremely loud and can be heard a great distance away. Essential if you’re trying to get rescued in a secluded area.
Being a single mom of two girls you can only imagine how many ’emergency’ feedings I have had to deal with. Being on the go is something that we are always doing, whether it be going shopping or going hiking in Yosemite Survival Kit is on the top of my list. My oldest girl is a food hound. If she gets hungry and there is no food in site, she has a fit. This has been true since she was a baby. This need has motivated me to find the best nutritious and delicious snacks for on the go ’emergency’ times.
“One-Day” treks are not only fun, but they teach your kids that you don’t have to go to Disney World to have a good time—or even on a camping trip. There are lots of things to enjoy and explore right in your own vicinity so take advantage of it. You might even give each member of the family a “One-Day” trek day of his or her own in which all the planning of where to go, what to take, etc. is left up to that person.
A light cover up. Temperatures can drop drastically at night sometimes by 30 degrees or more! Hopefully you’ll never find yourself lost on a trail after sun down in a pair of shorts and a tee, but if you do having even just a light cover up such as a cotton sweater can help. Weather is unpredictable and you’ll be glad you were shlepping it around when you actually need it. Prevents a cold or sickness promotes comfort.
